       Hello! And Welcome to my webpage. My name is Jose Alberto Lopez, most people call me Albert, and I am a traditional artist working out of the Rio Grande Valley. I was born and raised in Los Ebanos, Tx, a small riverside community. I decided to name the studio I work out of Espina Del Ebano to pay homage to where my family and I are from. 

       My art journey began with an interest in wildlife and animals. As a kid I took to always having a  pencil and a paper to try and capture what I'd see. As I got closer to middle school, comic book art became another subject that started bringing figures into my drawing. It wasn't until after graduating highschool that I started to gain an interest in Painting. I kind of messed around with it on and off for a few years, but I would have to say that I began to actually study painting in 2008. 

      My first paintings were usually monotone because it helped me transition from a dry medium to a wet one with out having to abruptly add the mystery of color. I later started working with color, and eventually found my preferred medium to work with being Oil. 

        Most of my work is Representational, with my main subjects being Landscapes, Figures, and Still Life's. As of recently however, I have also been working on some Abstract pieces to add to the collection.  I like to consider my self a lifelong student of Art , and because of this I enjoy working in different mediums. Oil Painting is my favorite subject, but if I'm taking a break from the brush ,  Drawing, Tattooing, and/ or Photography find their way into my routine. I am currently a member of the Oil Painters of America Association. 

      So that's I very quick bio of a little bit of what my art background is, and I appreciate the time taken to look into some of my work. I am always working on something, so please always feel welcomed to revisit and see what's new.
